Audio CD

In addition to the musical annotations and computer playable MIDI files of tunes collected and published by Professor Child, Audio CDThe Heritage Collectors package contains a standard (red-book) audio CD for use in a standard stereo player. New and previously unreleased ballad tracks for the compilation audio CD reflect music styles ranging from solo, unaccompanied song to contemporary folk-rock bands.

There are historical ballads, murder ballads, humorous songs, and mystical stories, all illuminated by the musical traditions of Appalachia, Scotland, England, Yorkshire, New England, Wales, and the folk-rock revival.

The accompanying booklet of liner notes offers insights into the artists' song selections, performance and style choices, and biographies.
